The Eastern Youth Zone is a strategic regional program under Apnom Youth Organisation aimed at empowering, mobilizing, and transforming the lives of young people in Eastern Uganda. With a population rich in culture, resilience, and potential, this zone is dedicated to addressing key challenges faced by youth—such as unemployment, early marriage, limited access to sexual and reproductive health services, and the impacts of climate change—while tapping into their immense creativity and energy to drive grassroots development.
From the shores of Lake Victoria in Busia to the slopes of Mount Elgon in Mbale and Bukwo, the Eastern Youth Zone fosters innovation, leadership, and inclusion. It creates a coordinated platform for building youth capacities in digital skills, entrepreneurship, environmental conservation, advocacy, peacebuilding, and civic engagement.
To ignite a transformative movement of empowered youth in Eastern Uganda championing sustainable development and community resilience.
To enhance the capacity, agency, and impact of young people across Eastern Uganda through grassroots-led programs, skills development, advocacy, and inclusive participation in social change.

The Eastern Youth Zone is led by a Youth Zone Leader, a visionary and dynamic individual responsible for overseeing the implementation of programs and initiatives within the zone. The Youth Zone Leader is supported by a sub-committee composed of young leaders from various districts, ensuring that the diverse needs and voices of youth across the region are represented. This leadership team works closely with the Apnom Youth Organisation’s headquarters to align local initiatives with the organization’s broader goals and strategies.
